Child Development Center 25th Anniversary Celebration
by Regina Surber, Child Development Center Governing Board Chair
You have a young child and you have a job. Where will you be able to locate someone to nurture and care for your child during the workday? This is a dilemma faced by many families in the Nashville area on a daily basis. Twenty-five years ago, FBC members recognized this need and the opportunity it presented to become partners with young families in the nurture and development of their children. Through the years countless families and children have come through our doors to become a part of the CDC family. Five days a week, staff members strive to meet the physical, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs of the infants, toddlers, and preschoolers who are entrusted to their care. FBC member Gordon Brown states that through the years that their sons were enrolled in the program, “Nancy and I considered the staff as an extended family. We trusted them with our children for several hours a day and they did not let us down.” Another parent of a child in the CDC says, “To us, the Child Development Center at First Baptist Church has been a large blessing in our lives. From potty training to ABC’s, they have been there to help guide our children through the milestones of their early years.” The CDC is celebrating twenty-five years of ministering to children and families and we look forward to the next twenty-five years of love, laughter and learning.
