One Star, Two Stars, Three Stars!

Yes, once again the Child Development Center has been awarded the top 3-Star rating in the Tennessee Star Quality Program. This year, the Center was rated on six components: Director Qualifications, Professional Development, Parent/Family Involvement, Ratio and Group Size, Staff Compensation and Program Assessment. I’m happy to say that the Center received three stars in each component. A seventh component, Developmental Learning, will become effective on January 1, 2010.
During assessments this year, our Two-Year-Old Class and Preschool B Class (3-year-olds) were assessed. Their scores were 4.87 and 5.86, respectively. The average scores across the state in the prior year were 4.29 and 4.80. The Center’s overall assessment score was 5.37 out of a possible 7.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the CDC staff for all their hard work year-round to make the Center a great place for children. But I also want to say a huge thank you to First Baptist Church for having the vision for a child care center over twenty-five years ago. It is a privilege for me to be able to come to this place each day and invest in the lives of young children.
